Directing Reviews for Tre Garrett
New Theatre Reviews Pittsburgh critic- Carlos Tucker,
Hambone is masterfully directed by young director Tre Garrett. The play is laugh out loud funny and at the same time touching and serious. The actors move with energy and not one moment is wasted. This is a great time at the theatre. http://chefmoz.org/United_States/PA/Pittsburgh/Hambone%27s954344223.html
Washington City Paper
Tre Garrett's staging for the African Continuum Theater Company is both bracingly brisk and resourceful on a budget, using rudimentary shifts in lighting, costuming, and a few spare props to delineate period. Nothing is extraneous--no movement wasted, no emotion sentimentalized or overblown. Garrett's definitely a talent worth watching.
Bob Mondello of the Washington City Paper says “Draft Day” is in almost every sense, a cause for rejoicing and an unequivocal slam dunk. http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/listings.phpkeywd=&category=THEATER&stage=Search&rowcount=1
Washington Post critic - Peter Marks
The piece is staged by Tre Garrett with an appealing lack of pretension: just a few props, a few lighting cues and some incidental music. “Draft Day" signals the kind of initiative that adds luster to a small company's mission. "Draft Day" is a brisk exposure to an engaging argument. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/11/18/AR2005111802570.html
Curtain Up Theatre Magazine critic Rich See
Director Tre Garrett has made the words and the story the focal point of the show.

WashingtonTheatre.com critic Christopher Correa
Director Tre Garrett has placed his team of five players on court and coached all to victory. His is a production comprised of too many highlights to single out for instant replay.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette critic- Anna Rosenstein
“Hambone” review - Director Tre Garrett, who designed the set along with Southers, keeps the actors moving smoothly and naturally between them so there are never extended periods during which views might be obstructed.

My Favorite Things Jazz
Overall I had a great time. The music was enthralling. Experiencing it in the historic Apollo Theater enhanced the special character of the performance. Kudos to one and all and especially to Art.
